Background

When Nelson Civic Theatre Society reached out, their website's backbone was more of a digital spaghetti. With a range of back-end tools that barely spoke to each other, the team's day-to-day was a patchwork of manual data transfers and operational headaches. They needed more than a fix; they needed a transformation to streamline their operations and give their audience a smoother ride from browsing to booking.

Approach

First up, I looked into their current setup, mapping out their existing systems. Stakeholder interviews gave me the lowdown on what each tool did and how they (didn’t) work together. The mission was clear: untangle the mess, find the right blend of back-end tools, and design a website that makes sense not just on the surface but all the way through. After many demos and discussion with CRM and ticketing platforms, we found a suite of tools that clicked together and with the theatre’s vibe.

Results

By late 2024, the Nelson Civic Theatre Society's new website will be live, becoming a destination for everything related to the theatre. It will offer an seamless user experience for ticket bookings, browsing movies for rent, and general exploration. This overhaul fundamentally transforms backend operations into a streamlined, efficient system that lives in a defined ecosystem.
